Clean Air Innovation with Austin Riesenberger, Founder @ SWERV
Austin Riesenberger built SWERV's first five ERV units for $2,000 total, then turned down a Hawaii relocation to keep the company.
Austin Riesenberger is the Founder of SWERV, a clean technology company focused on clean air innovation. A mechanical engineer and physicist by training, Austin studied at Colia and developed an early curiosity for how things work, one that eventually drove him toward building solutions at the intersection of engineering and environmental impact. SWERV is working to address air quality challenges through hardware and technology developed at Greentown Labs, one of the leading clean tech incubators in the country.
Austin joined Blake on The Grove, a podcast by Earth Onward, to walk through his entrepreneurial journey and share what SWERV is building in the clean air space. The conversation covered his background in mechanical engineering, the path from tinkering with machines as a kid to founding a company tackling a real environmental problem, and the specifics of the product SWERV is developing. Austin offered an honest look at what it takes to build in clean tech, the role of community and support networks in that process, and where he sees the opportunity for meaningful progress on air quality. His episode is part of The Grove's ongoing series featuring founders and innovators working on some of the most pressing challenges in clean technology today.
