Jad Daley

President at Terraformation

Jad Daley is President of Terraformation, a global forest restoration company focused on helping communities and project developers restore native, biodiverse forests at scale. Terraformation supports reforestation through practical infrastructure and services, including seed banking, nursery systems, forest project development, financing support, and tools for monitoring and verification. Its work is centered on restoring ecosystems in ways that benefit climate, biodiversity, and local livelihoods, rather than treating tree planting as a simple numbers exercise.

Before joining Terraformation, Daley led major forest and climate initiatives, including his work as President and CEO of American Forests, where he helped advance forest restoration as a core climate solution in the United States. His career has focused on turning forest science into durable programs that can be implemented by communities, governments, and private partners.

On The Grove, in the episode “The Right Way to Reforest the Planet,” Daley discussed what it means to do reforestation well. He addressed why many tree planting efforts fail, how native forests differ from monoculture plantations, and why seed supply, local partnerships, long term care, and ecological integrity matter. He also explained Terraformation’s approach to building the systems needed for high quality forest restoration.
