Farming, Finance & Biochar with Aukrit Unahalekhaka, Co-Founder & CEO @ Ricult
Aukrit Unahalekhaka built a million-farmer AgTech platform in Thailand, then walked away to bet on biochar.
Aukrit Unahalekhaka is Co-Founder and CEO of Ricult, an agri-fintech company that uses satellite imagery and data analytics to help smallholder farmers in Thailand and Pakistan make better decisions about their crops and access financial services. Over nearly a decade building Ricult, Aukrit steered the company through a transition from agricultural decision support toward a fintech model serving smallholder farmers, gaining hard-won lessons about what works and what does not when building for underserved rural communities. Beyond Ricult, he advises the Thai government on how policy and regulation can create conditions for innovation in sustainability, and he now leads a fund focused on biochar projects in Thailand.
On The Grove, Aukrit joined host and Earth Onward founder for a wide-ranging conversation covering the arc of Ricult's journey, the honest challenges of building a fintech model for smallholder farmers, and why he believes biochar represents a genuine opportunity for Thailand to become a world leader in a meaningful climate solution. His perspective combines years of on-the-ground experience working with farming communities across Southeast Asia with a strategic view of how countries can identify and commit to areas where they can lead globally on sustainability.
