Arian Edalat

Founder & CEO at Active Membranes

Arian Edalat is the Founder and CEO of Active Membranes, a water technology company building tools that allow operators to monitor and communicate with membranes in real time during the water purification process. Membranes are a core component of modern water infrastructure, used in everything from municipal treatment systems to industrial desalination, but historically they have functioned as something of a black box. Active Membranes changes that by giving operators visibility into membrane health, enabling smarter decisions, reducing waste, and dramatically lowering the cost of clean water production.

Edalat's broader ambition is to make desalination and water purification so economically accessible that fresh water becomes a realistic resource for communities anywhere in the world, including those currently priced out of existing solutions.

He joined The Grove podcast, produced by Earth Onward, for an episode titled "Smarter Desalination with Arian Edalat, Founder and CEO at Active Membranes." In the conversation, he walked through the technology behind Active Membranes, explained how real-time membrane communication improves operational efficiency, and shared his vision for what truly affordable water purification could mean at a global scale.
